Text Paintings

This series is a meditation on self-healing, personal growth, and the emotional complexities of being. Rooted in abstraction and language, these works function as both visual diaries and quiet spaces of reflection, especially for women. Words and phrases surface through layers of paint not as ornament, but as anchors of meaning, fragments that hold space for affirmation, vulnerability, and release.

Unlike my other bodies of work, which often lean on color, this series is rendered in black and white, a deliberate and powerful shift. By removing the seduction and emotional sway of color, the paintings speak with greater clarity and urgency. Stripped down and direct, what remains is essence: truth laid bare.

I work intuitively, letting each canvas unfold through gesture, texture, repetition, and restraint. The surface becomes a container for inner experience, an archive of transformation and truth-telling. Text operates as a threshold between the visible and the felt, a bridge where language meets emotion. Though deeply personal, these works extend outward, inviting viewers into a shared space of resonance, where fragments of healing may echo their own.

The text-based paintings are maps of becoming and records of emotional and spiritual thresholds. They read as visual mantras, love letters, and truth-telling entries from a diary I trust with my most vulnerable states. Each phrase captures a moment of clarity or struggle, a memory, or a lesson I hope to pass on to my children and to myself. They remind me of who I am, who I am becoming, and how I choose to live.

The visual language here borrows from the intimacy of journaling, the catharsis of mark-making, and the slow rituals of repair. These paintings are offerings— quiet yet insistent —marking a process of becoming that is ongoing, tender, and real.
