The Foundational Paintings mark the beginning of my visual language—a raw and exploratory series that laid the emotional and material groundwork for everything that followed. These works emerged from a place of urgency and anger, created in moments when words failed but feeling persisted. They are unfiltered, immediate, and driven by gesture. Color, texture, and rhythm became tools that move emotion out of the body and onto the canvas.

In these early pieces, I wasn’t yet consciously painting about healing or personal growth, but those themes were already present, encoded in the physical act of painting itself. They represent a reckoning with self, space, and sensation. Working between portraiture and abstraction, I was learning to trust intuition, to let the body speak, to allow the process of creating carry the message.

The Foundational Paintings are artifacts of my becoming—evidence of an artist finding her own language through repetition, rupture, and repair. They are quiet beginnings and endings, but every moment remains for me charged with the energy of everything that is still to come.
